The centralized processing centre has processed over 26 lakh income-tax returns filed online and calculated refunds in over 5 lakh cases.
These are being sent through the refund banker scheme,State Bank of India.Taxpayers can check the refund status by calling CPC call centre (080-43456700 ) or logging onto the website http:// http://www.tin-nsdl.com/.
Taxpayers who have registered to view Form 26AS online can view details of paid refund in their Form 26AS from F.Y. 2009-10 (A.Y. 2010-11) onwards. Refunds received during the selected A.Y. will be displayed in Form 26AS. For instance, refunds pertaining to A.Y. 2005-06 which are received in F.Y. 2009-10 (A.Y. 2010-11) will be displayed in Form 26AS for F.Y. 2009-10 (A.Y. 2010-11).
The I-T department has pointed out that refund cheques in respect of paper returns of assessment year 2008-09 have been returned by the postal authorities due to change of address.Many refunds in ECS mode have not been successfully credited to taxpayers accounts due to incomplete/incorrect MICR and bank account numbers.Details of these returned intimations are on the departmental

For paper returns of salary ranges of Bangalore for assessment year 2008-09 processed at CPC,taxpayers can contact the PRO,income-tax department,ground floor,CR Building,Queens Road,Bangalore.They can collect the returned intimations and update their details of address/bank accounts/MICR code by writing to
CPC,Bangalore,at CPC,Post Bag #1,Bangalore – 560100.
In case of updating bank account/MICR code,taxpayers should enclose a copy of the cancelled cheque also as sample while giving the details.
