Action Will Be Taken Against Driver
Bangalore: If you hail an auto rickshaw but the driver shakes his head in disagreement to your choice of place or bargains with you about the fare,keep your mobile phone ready.You can take action.
In a people-friendly initiative,traffic police have opened a 24-hour interactive voice response system (IVRS) and text message-based complaint-lodging system.Commuters can use these services to lodge complaints against autorickshaw drivers who refuse to ply to a destination and/or for overcharging.Additional commissioner of police (traffic) Praveen Sood said SMSs sent by people will go to the traffic management system based on which action will be taken on the drivers.
Earlier,the system was that someone had to send the complaint on post cards,which later became email.We realized that people have access to mobile phones more than computers,so we decided to take the programme a step ahead, said Sood.However,a realtime response to any complaint is yet to be a reality.
At the moment,a realtime response wont be possible.We dont have so many policemen to attend to every case.But we will make sure action is taken against them, he added.
Apart from the SMS service,a round-the-clock IVRS system will be available to register complaints.Even if there are telephone operators,people can also leave a voicemail,which will be taken as a complaint.

police have launched three more services: four-wheeler parking notification,traffic violation pending notice and vehicle-ownership details.

The customer has to send a text in a particular format and they will receive a message with the information.This is the first time such a system has been introduced in the country.At present,we have three parking lots connected to the traffic management centre.

I TRIED TO SEND MY COMPLAINT TODAY BY SMS THROUGH MY BSNL PHONE NO.+919434701719 TODAY I.E. 5.8.11 AT 11.00 AM REGARDING REFUSAL OF THE AUTO BEARING REGISTRATION NO.KA-02 A8892 REGARDING REFUSAL BY THE AUTO DRIVER TO TAKE ME FROM BTM 2ND STATE NEAR CHAMUNDESWARY TEMPLE TO D.A. Pandu Memorial R.V. Dental College BUT THE SERVER DID NOT SEND THE COMPLAINT WITH MESSAGE, "NOT SENT, STORED."
Its not true this website, that is why it did not go! If this system was actually truthful, we would have had no auto issues in this city.
The messages do go if you use an Airtel phone. I tried with Vodafone but somehow I think Vodafone is using the same number for one of their services, so I was unable to send. I used a friend's airtel mobile and true enough, the complaint was registered… I also got the driver details from the server!
